Kohinoor Radio Honours Veteran Journalist S. Baljit Singh Brar as NRIs Voice Concerns Over Punjab’s Future

Leicester, UK – During his recent visit to the United Kingdom, prominent Punjabi journalist and Editor of Punjab Times, S. Baljit Singh Brar, participated in a special live interview with Sital Singh Gill on Kohinoor Radio 97.3 FM.

Dr. Charanpreet Singh Johal presents S. Baljit Singh Brar with a collection of progressive Punjabi literature and books during his visit to Kohinoor Radio, Leicester.

The programme attracted considerable public interest, with numerous listeners telephoning the station to raise questions about the current situation in Punjab, the concerns of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), and the future relationship between the Punjabi diaspora and their homeland.

During the discussion, Mr. Brar encouraged overseas Punjabis to maintain strong links with Punjab, continue investing in their homeland, and ensure that future generations remain connected to Punjab’s language, culture, heritage, and history. He stressed that NRIs have an important role to play in the economic, social, and cultural development of Punjab.

Many callers expressed concerns about recent developments in Punjab and the challenges faced by overseas Punjabis. Listeners requested that Mr. Brar use the pages of his widely respected newspaper, Punjab Times, to highlight NRI concerns and bring them to the attention of the Punjab Government.

Responding to listeners, Mr. Brar acknowledged the deep emotional bond that overseas Punjabis continue to have with their homeland. He assured listeners that NRI concerns deserve serious attention and reaffirmed that Punjabis living abroad continue to love their country and remain committed to maintaining close ties with the land of the Gurus.

He encouraged NRIs to continue visiting Punjab, supporting local development, and helping younger generations maintain their connection with their roots and heritage.

Following the interview, a presentation ceremony was held at Kohinoor Radio Studios in Leicester.

As a mark of appreciation for his longstanding contribution to Punjabi journalism and public awareness, Dr. Charanpreet Singh Johal, Managing Director of Kohinoor Radio 97.3 FM, presented Mr. Brar with a collection of progressive Punjabi books and literature.

The event was attended by community representatives and supporters who welcomed the opportunity to discuss issues affecting Punjab and the global Punjabi diaspora.
