Nawanshahr (Asian independent) (Jatinder Pal Singh Kler) — In protest against the FIR registered against senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi, a strong protest dharna was organized by the District Congress Committee Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in Balachaur. During the dharna, Congress leaders and workers expressed fierce anger against the BJP government’s action and raised slogans vigorously.On this occasion, Ajay Mangupur, District President Congress, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, said that Rahul Gandhi is continuously raising his voice for the rights of the common people, farmers, laborers, and youth of the country. He said that any attempt to suppress the voice of the opposition in a democracy is unacceptable. Ajay Mangupur stated, “Rahul Gandhi’s voice cannot be suppressed by FIRs and government pressure. The Congress party is ready for every struggle to protect the Constitution and democracy.” He added that respect for constitutional institutions and the independent voice of the opposition are extremely vital for strengthening democracy in the country.Meanwhile, an effigy of Narendra Modi was burnt as part of the protest. The Congress party will not bow down to any kind of pressure and will further intensify its struggle over public issues. A large number of Congress leaders, office-bearers, Youth Congress members, and party workers participated in the dharna. The leaders demanded that the FIR registered against Rahul Gandhi be cancelled immediately and attempts to suppress democratic voices be halted.
