When a perpetrator goes on social media to brag about a crime while dropping the names of top political leaders, it strips away the illusion of equal justice. The problem is not just the arrogance of one individual. The real problem is the complete silence of the institutions that are supposed to protect the public and enforce the law.
If a video recording is authentic, the legal process should be fast and simple. In a fair system, an open, recorded admission of illegal behavior gives the police every reason to launch an investigation, issue a summons, or make an immediate arrest. Yet, the moment political connections enter the picture, law enforcement suddenly goes quiet.
The contrast is sharp and painful. Ordinary citizens, peaceful student protesters, and journalists face swift police action and lathis for simply speaking up.
Meanwhile, those who boast about having high-level political backing are left completely untouched.
This deliberate silence creates a troubling reality. Has the country reached a point where having the right political links grants you complete immunity?
When someone boasts on camera that they are untouchable because they know powerful ministers, they are making a joke out of the legal system. When the police refuse to investigate these public claims, their silence acts as an endorsement. It sends a dangerous message to the public: the law is not meant to protect everyone equally, but is instead enforced selectively based on who holds power. A nation cannot claim to follow the rule of law when political influence shields perpetrators from punishment, leaving accountability only for those without power.
