Addressing huge gathering, BJP leaders said only BJP can pull Punjab’s youth out of drug menace
Nawanshahr (Asian independent) (Jatinder Pal Singh Kler): The Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra being run by the Bharatiya Janata Party across Punjab with the message of making Punjab drug-free received a grand welcome at village Udhanwal on reaching Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. On this occasion, a huge gathering was held under the leadership of BJP District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar President Advocate Rajwinder Singh Lucky, in which a large number of local residents, youth, women and BJP workers participated. On this occasion former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, Rajya Sabha member Satnam Singh Sandhu, former Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma and senior Punjab BJP leader Dr. Subhash Sharma Ji along with several senior leaders and a large number of party workers were present.Addressing the gathering, the leaders said that the problem of drugs is not just of any one family, but it is an issue connected with the entire society. To keep the young generation away from drugs, joint role of government, social organizations, religious institutions, parents and teachers is necessary. BJP District President Advocate Rajwinder Singh Lucky said that the overwhelming response received from people at village Udhanwal shows that people of Punjab are taking the problem of drugs seriously. The youth generation of Punjab is the biggest strength of the state and saving this strength from drugs is the responsibility of every Punjabi. Former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu said that people’s participation is very important to make the fight against drugs successful and there is a need to make it a mass movement. Society should make joint efforts to keep youth away from drugs by connecting them with sports, education and employment. Former State President Ashwani Sharma said that to deal with the problem of drugs, not only legal action but also social awareness is necessary and to make Punjab drug-free, every section will have to fulfill its responsibility. Rajya Sabha member Satnam Singh Sandhu said that the role of youth is most important in the fight against drugs and connecting them with education, skill development and employment opportunities is the prime responsibility of society. On this occasion, the entire team of District BJP, Mandal office bearers, Morcha office bearers, Panchayat representatives and a large number of workers including Sandeep Bhatia Sonu, Ashok Chechi, Raj Khatana, Pankaj Kumar, Gurpal Singh Dhaul, Baba Gurmeet Singh Bakapur, Jaswant Singh Kangna Bet, Narinder Nath Sudan, Aman Rana, Varinder Kaur Thandi, Ashok Kumar Nanowal, Ravinder Bath and others were present.
