Nawanshahr (Asian independent) (Jatinderpal Singh Kaler): In protest against the anti-people policies of the Central Government and rising inflation, a massive dharna-protest was staged by Punjab Congress in Chandigarh today. The protest was held under the leadership of Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, during which a large number of Congress leaders and workers courted arrest. On this occasion, Congress leaders from District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, led by District President Ajay Mangupur, also courted arrest while raising strong slogans against the Central Government. Those who courted arrest included Pradhan Surinder Chhinda Railmajra, Nanak Singh Jandi, Sarpanch Baljinder Singh Manewal, Arjun Singh Rail Majra, Sanjeev Sonu, Rakesh Khan, Sarpanch Jaswinder Singh Bhatia Asron, Rajinder Kataria, Kalwinder Mand, SC Cell Chairman Jinder Kumar Balachaur, Dharampal Bharthla Ex-Chairman Balachaur, Amrit Mangupur along with a large number of Congress workers. The leaders said that due to the wrong policies of the Central Government, the prices of sugar, pulses, petrol, diesel and daily use commodities are skyrocketing in the country today, making it difficult for the common people to survive. They courted arrest today while holding a protest against this rising inflation. After the protest, all the leaders were taken into custody by the police and taken to the Sector-11 police station.
