Man Arrested for Robbing ₹10,000 from Gas Agency at Gunpoint

Nawanshahr    (Asian independent)   (Jatinderpal Singh Kaler): Balachaur Police have solved a case involving the robbery of ₹10,000 from a gas agency at gunpoint and successfully arrested one accused. Addressing a press conference at his office, DSP Balachaur Hemant Malhotra said that the action was carried out under the able guidance of Tushar Gupta, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, by SI Abhishek Sharma, SHO of Police Station Pojewal, and ASI Ravinder  Singh, In-charge, Saroya  Police  Post. He  said that  on August 10, 2026, a person entered Bharat Gas Agency, Saroya, and allegedly robbed ₹10,000 at gunpoint. On the statement of Sunita, wife of Davinder Kumar, resident  of  Saroya, Police  Station  Pojewal  registered FIR No. 115 dated August 10, 2026, under Section 304(2) of the BNS and Section 27 of the Arms Act. During the investigation, on August 16, 2026, it came to light that the incident had allegedly been carried out by Bhupinder  Singh  alias  Deepu,  son  of  Piara  Singh, resident of Ajnoha, following which he was nominated  as  an  accused  in  the case. Subsequently, a police team from Saroya Police Post, led by ASI Ravinder Singh, arrested the accused during a naka on August 30, 2026. Police recovered a toy pistol, a motorcycle and ₹600 in cash from the accused. According to the police, the accused also disclosed that the remaining money from the robbery had been used to purchase drugs. Investigation further revealed that two cases had previously been registered against the accused at Mehtiana Police Station—FIR No. 94 dated August 12, 2024, under Section 307 BNS, and FIR No. 03 dated January 5, 2026, under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) BNS. Police are conducting further investigation after questioning the accused.
