Nawanshehar (Asian independent) (Jatinder Pal Singh Kaler): Chairman of Punjab Gujjar Welfare Board, Brigadier Raj Kumar held a public meeting at village Bholewal, during which he established direct contact with the villagers and discussed the problems of the area, development works and the works being done by the Punjab government. During the public meeting, Brigadier Raj Kumar was given a warm welcome by the villagers and was also honoured. Addressing the gathering of villagers, Brigadier Raj Kumar said that the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann has done many such works during its four-and-a-half-year tenure, which previous governments could not do during their long tenures. He said that along with providing facilities to the common people, special attention is also being paid to the development of villages and especially the Kandi area.– Claimed 95 Percent Houses Have Zero Electricity Bills
Brigadier Raj Kumar said that due to the welfare policies of the Punjab government, today 95 percent of houses in Punjab are not getting electricity bills. He said that this has provided great economic relief to common families and a part of people’s household income is being saved from electricity expenses. He said that the main objective of the government is to provide basic facilities to the people as well as strengthen their economic condition and various public welfare schemes are being implemented in this direction.
– Kandi Canal Water Proved a Boon for Farmers of the Area
During the public meeting, Brigadier Raj Kumar, describing the Kandi Canal as a major achievement for the area, said that farmers of this area have now started getting canal water. He said that the issue of Kandi Canal had been pending for several decades and during the time of various governments there were talks of completing it, but people could not get its full benefit. He said that the Bhagwant Mann government, taking this long-standing demand of the people of Kandi area seriously, has started Kandi canal water in Balachaur constituency. According to him, the canal water is no less than a boon for the farmers of this area and it is expected to greatly benefit agriculture.
– Mentioned Government Schemes for Women and Elderly
Brigadier Raj Kumar said that the Punjab government is running several schemes for the welfare of various sections of society including women and the elderly. He informed that women of the constituency have started getting an amount of Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 per month under the ‘Maan-Dhiyan Da Satkar Yojana’. Apart from this, he said that people above 50 years of age are being given free pilgrimage facility under Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana. He said that the purpose of such schemes of the government is to connect every section of society with government facilities.
– ‘I am available to solve every problem of the area’
During the public meeting, Brigadier Raj Kumar assured the villagers that he is among the people and always available to solve every problem of the area. He said that his first priority is to take people’s difficulties to the government and administration and get them resolved. He also discussed local problems with the villagers and said that suggestions given by the people regarding development works will be taken seriously.

On this occasion, Brigadier Raj Kumar was honoured by the villagers. During the public meeting, villagers also brought various issues related to the area to his attention. On this occasion, Ashok Kumar Sarpanch Bholewal, Master Mahinder Pal Bholewal, Prem Chand Chandpur Rurki, Mahinder Pal Nambardar, Jagdish Rai State Member and other dignitaries and villagers were present.
