Leicester, 10 April 2026- The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain) has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East, expressing deep concern over the escalating violence and the devastating impact on civilians.

In a statement issued today, the organisation condemned the continuing military attacks that have caused widespread loss of life and displacement across the region. It said ordinary people are paying the highest price for the conflict, with thousands killed, many injured and large numbers forced to flee their homes, creating a serious humanitarian crisis.

The association said the policies pursued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have pushed the region further towards instability and destruction. It added that leaders with war-driven approaches, including Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, have contributed to rising global tensions.

Sital Singh Gill, General Secretary of the Indian Workers Association (Great Britain), said the continuation of military strikes would only deepen human suffering.

“The ongoing war and bombardment represent a grave threat to humanity. The attacks have devastated the lives of innocent civilians and increased tensions across the region. The world needs leadership that prioritises peace, dialogue and justice, not policies that fuel further conflict,” he said.

Gill urged world governments and the United Nations to take urgent steps to secure a ceasefire and encourage all parties to pursue diplomatic negotiations.

He also welcomed efforts by several countries and international partners to promote dialogue and de-escalation. European Union countries, including France, Germany, Spain and Ireland, have called for restraint, respect for international law and renewed diplomatic efforts to end the violence.

The association further welcomed remarks by the UK Prime Minister that Israeli attacks should stop, saying such statements reflect growing international concern and the need for stronger diplomatic efforts to restore peace.

“The international community must stand on the side of truth, justice and humanity. Only dialogue and diplomacy can deliver a lasting solution and restore peace to the region,” Gill added.
