India have been crowned T20 World Cup champions after one of the most dominant performances ever seen in a final. Playing in front of a roaring home crowd in Ahmedabad, India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs — a score line that barely does justice to how completely they controlled every single moment of the match.

A Batting Display

New Zealand won the toss and chose to ball. India from the very first over, they made clear this would be no ordinary innings. Abhishek Sharma exploded out of the blocks, smashing 52 off just 21 balls. His opening partner Sanju Samson was equally devastating. Together, they tore the New Zealand bowling attack apart in the powerplay and set the tone for everything that followed.

Sanju Samson proceeded to play an innings of extraordinary quality — 89 off 46 balls — full of timing, power and composure. It was the kind of knock that wins finals. Suddenly 3 quick wickets, but Shivam Dube smashed an astonishing 26 off just 8 balls to close out the innings in style.

SuryaKumar Yadav, missed the trick, he should have sent Shivam Dube much earlier. He sent Hardik Pandya who struggled with timing and captain himself was was also out on zero.

The final total read 255 for 5. It was a mammoth, crushing, almost unfair number to put on the board.

The Bowlers Finished the Job

Chasing 256 in a T20 final is a mountain. Chasing it against Jasprit Bumrah is closer to the impossible. The world’s best T20 bowler was at his ruthless best, taking 4 wickets. He made the ball talk, and New Zealand’s batters had no answers. Man of the Match should have Sanju Samson for his brilliant batting. Bumrah wickets were mostly late order batsman.

The real damage came early. When opener Finn Allen and wicketkeeper Tim Seifert — New Zealand’s two most dangerous batters — fell cheaply, the chase was effectively over. The scoreboard pressure became unbearable. Every dot ball felt like a nail in the coffin, and New Zealand’s batters began playing rash shots out of desperation. Axar Patel chipped in brilliantly with 3 wickets and New Zealand were eventually bowled out for just 159.

Sanju Samson — Player of the Tournament

If there was one player who embodied India’s campaign throughout the tournament, it was Sanju Samson. For years, fans have known about his extraordinary talent. This World Cup, he finally got the chance to show it on the biggest stage — and he delivered every single time. His Player of the Tournament award was met with enormous celebration, a recognition long overdue for one of Indian cricket’s most gifted players.

The Toss That Changed Everything

New Zealand won the toss — and made the wrong call. On a flat batting wicket in Ahmedabad, the right decision was almost certainly to bat first and post a total. Instead, they invited India to bat, handed them the perfect conditions, and were made to pay in the most brutal way possible. It is a decision their players and fans will think about for a long time.

A Complete Team Performance

What made this victory so special was that it was not just one or two players carrying the team. India won with their batting, their bowling, their keeping and their fielding. Ishan Kishan took two excellent catches in the field. Bumrah and Axar dismantled the batting lineup. Samson kept brilliantly behind the stumps. And the top order batters put on a batting display that left the crowd breathless.

India did not just win this World Cup. They dominated it from start to finish. On the night that mattered most, in front of their home fans, they produced a performance that will be talked about for generations. Champions of the world — and deserving of every single word of that title.
