LONDON- Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, lovingly known as Amma, made her long-awaited return to the United Kingdom from November 20th – 22nd, drawing several thousand people from diverse backgrounds to Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher across her three-day programme. This marked Amma’s first UK visit in six years and the penultimate stop on her seven-week Europe Tour.
The welcome ceremony honoured Amma’s return with a panel of distinguished women leaders, including Shivani Raja, MP for Leicester East, explorer-adventurer and Paralympic gold medallist Karen Darke MBE, and wellness entrepreneur and mental health advocate Poppy Jamie. Each spoke to Amma’s global impact and the inspiration she offers through her life of selfless service.

Amma’s programme featured spiritual discourses, emphasising the urgent need to restore harmony with nature and uphold moral and ethical values in society. The sessions also included guided meditations, devotional singing (bhajans), and cultural performances by local artists—among them Hindustani classical musicians and a vibrant dance presentation by children from Amma’s UK Bala Kendra group.
All funds raised from the event support Embracing the World, Amma’s global humanitarian network. The organisation’s initiatives span education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, environmental protection, disaster relief, food security, clean water access, shelter, scientific research, and rural development—embodying Amma’s mission of “compassion in action.”
The All Party Parliamentary Group Indian Traditional Sciences exclusive Sri Matre Namah award was presented to Amma – Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi by Amarjeet-singh Bhamra.
The Sandown Park gathering celebrated not only Amma’s presence but also her decades-long dedication to uplifting communities worldwide through love, unity, and service.
