Geopolitics
There is a growing and widespread belief that the UK government has failed to protect its Jewish citizens. This argument suggests that the Labour Party, under Keir Starmer, has prioritized keeping the “Muslim block vote” over ensuring the safety of the Jewish community.
1. Political Strategy Over Public Safety
Critics argue that Labour is playing a dangerous game of “sectarian politics.” By focusing heavily on the conflict in Gaza and adopting broad definitions of “Islamophobia,” the party is accused of trying to win back Muslim voters at any cost. This has led to a “hierarchy of racism,” where antisemitism is treated as a secondary issue while radical voices on the street are ignored to avoid offending a key voting group. This became evident during weekly anti Gaza protests.
2. The Failure of Key Leaders
Three major figures are seen as responsible for this decline in security:
Keir Starmer (Prime Minister): Despite his own family’s Jewish heritage, Starmer is accused of a “glaring lack of action.” His decision to chair meetings in Westminster instead of visiting the scene of the Golders Green attack has been viewed as a sign of weakness and a lack of true empathy.
Shabana Mahmood (Home Secretary): Mahmood is criticized for a “wait-and-see” approach. By failing to push for tougher laws against extremist chanting at weekly protests, she is seen as allowing a climate of hate to grow unchecked.
Sadiq Khan (Mayor of London): As the head of London’s policing, Khan faces the most direct anger over “two-tier policing.” Residents feel that while pro-Palestine protesters are handled with “kid gloves,” Jewish neighborhoods are left to face threats from groups like
Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia ( HAYI ).
3. The Role of Iran and the HAYI Group
The crisis is no longer just local; it is being fueled by foreign powers. Just days ago, the Foreign Office had to warn the Iranian ambassador about inciting violence on UK soil. We now know that the group HAYI, which is linked to Iran, has claimed responsibility for several attacks in London. The fact that the government knew about this Iranian incitement but failed to stop the Golders Green stabbings is seen as a massive national security failure.
4. International Condemnation
The situation has become so dire that the Israeli government has officially declared antisemitism in the UK to be “out of control.” When an allied nation warns that your citizens are being “hunted” in your own capital, it is a sign that the government’s current strategy has failed.
Conclusion: A Broken Promise
For the Jewish community, the social contract is broken. From the burning of ambulances to stabbings in broad daylight, the “zero tolerance” for antisemitism promised by Keir Starmer feels like an empty slogan. When a government is perceived to “pamper” one group for votes while another lives in fear, it has failed in its most basic duty: to keep all its people safe.
