(Asian independent) As per a recent report by ONS, during the second Covid wave (from 01 Sep20 to 22 May21), Sikhs were the most likely religious group to receive positive test result.

To raise awareness among the Sikhs and other diverse communities, SEVA Trust UK Bedford Team has arranged 4 sessions at various Temples of Bedford.

Supported by Public Health Bedford Borough Council SEVA Trust Team held their first of four events last Sunday at the Sikh Temple, Ampthill Rd, Bedford which was led by Charan Sekhon and Dr Baljit Kaur Upadhyay who delivered a talk on COVID19 vaccination and the need for everyone to get vaccinated or take a booster.

Over 75 people from all age groups (male, female and families) attended the event. Dr Upadhyay said ‘Our Team would like to thank the Gurdwara committee for their excellent support. We had many people visited our stand and I was surprised to find out that some have not yet taken the Covid jabs  and others feel hesitant to take the booster jab. I am pleased that as a result of our 1 to 1 discussions, we convinced   them to get vaccinated. These awareness session play a vital role and we are looking forward for the next 3 events organised by SEVA Trust Team’, she said.
