SBS Nagar (Asian independent) (Jatinderpal Singh kaler ) In a major administrative move to protect infrastructure and public safety, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Gulpreet Singh Aulakh has banned all overloaded vehicles within the district with immediate effect. According to an official office order, the restrictions have been imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. No vehicle exceeding the designed load-bearing capacity of roads or prescribed limits will be allowed to ply in the district. The SSP and RTA, SBS Nagar have been directed to set up police pickets to strictly enforce the order through challaning, impounding, and prosecution. Furthermore, the Executive Engineer of the Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology Division has been ordered to completely bar heavy vehicles exceeding sanctioned limits from traversing the crucial Dhusi Bandh of River Sutlej. The department must also take immediate steps to strengthen the embankment at all compromised points prior to the onset of the monsoon.
