All India People’s Front strongly condemns the brutal crackdown on the movement demanding the cancellation of the SIR and the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

A memorandum addressed to the President of India was submitted, demanding the protection of constitutional democracy.

Lucknow,    (Asian independent)   The All India People’s Front has strongly condemned the brutal repression and arrests carried out by the Modi government against the nationwide movement. This movement demands the immediate cancellation of the unconstitutional and illegal SIR, the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar—who has engaged in unauthorized, anti-constitutional actions—and the repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners. Today, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the All India People’s Front and the ‘Rozgar-Samajik Adhikar Abhiyan’ (Employment and Social Rights Campaign) expressed solidarity with the protests organized across the country by opposition parties, social organizations, and civil society, and submitted a memorandum to the President of India. Dinkar Kapoor, the State General Secretary of the All India People’s Front, participated in a program organized by civil society at Parivartan Chowk in Lucknow and courted arrest. The memorandum stated that the entire conduct of the Chief Election Commissioner is unconstitutional and unauthorized. He holds no moral or constitutional right to remain in office and must be removed with immediate effect. The letter noted that the refusal by the government to permit peaceful protests—even at designated and declared protest sites like Jantar Mantar and Mumbai’s Azad Maidan—is an ominous sign for democracy. The Modi government must desist from its dictatorial and repressive actions and fulfill the role of an accountable government. The Front appealed to the country’s democratic forces to join the movement to safeguard constitutional democracy. Today, the National President of the All India People’s Front, S.R. Darapuri; Kripa Shankar Panika, Savita Gond, Rajendra Prasad Gond, and Ruby Singh Gond in Sonbhadra; Engineer Durga Prasad in Agra; Ajay Rai in Chandauli; Rajesh Sachan (National Coordinator of Rozgar Adhikar Abhiyan), Arjun Lal, Engineer Ram Bahadur Patel, and Dr. B.R. Gautam in Prayagraj; Dr. Brij Bihari in Sitapur; Vijay Singh in Jharkhand; Advocate Ashok Kumar in Bihar; and Kashu Shubh Murti and Dr. Rahul Das in Delhi—along with others—sent a letter to the President of India via emails bearing hundreds of signatures.

S.R. Darapuri, National President, All India People’s Front.
