BIRMINGHAM- In the loving memory of 117th Barsi of Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji a continuous reciting of Sikh scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was organised by UK Nagar Nivasi Sangat of Village Virk which is near Phagwara City in Jallandur district in Punjab. Sri Akhand Pathh Sahib was started on Friday 14 August 2026 at 10.00 am in the main downstairs hall of Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib, 130 High Street, Smethwick, Birmingham. Bhog of Sri Akhand Pathh Sahib took place on Sunday 16th August 2026 with 9vay Patshah Slok beginning at 8.30 am. Prayers for the well being of everyone Sarbat da Bhla was done by the Head Priest of the Gurdwara.
During the three days countless members of Guru Nanak Naam Leva Sangat were blessed who did Sewa of bringing flour, fruits and vegetables, sweets, milk for Guru Ka Langar, listened to Gurbani, Simran and Sewa of Chaur Sahib, serving Guru Ka Langar, washing dishes, cleaning shoes of Sangat Ji. Mohinder Singh virk was presented with a Garland of Honour a Saropa by the Gurdwara Sahib.
The Main Granthi Singh praised the efforts of Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji who recited Gurbani himself and who encouraged countless members of Sadh Sangat Ji to read and listen to Gurbani as much as possible. It is due to this that during this time of the year a Nagar Kirtan is organised in village Virk every year on 26 July in which thousands participate. Kirtan was performed by the Hazoori Jatha of the Gurdwara. After the Katha, Makhann Singh Ji Kvishri Jatah informed the sangat about the life and teachings of Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji as well about Sikh history.
SANT BABA PHOOLA SINGH JI
Sant Baba Phoola Singh ji hails from village Kahma, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Due to the excellent Sewa by Sant Mala Singh Ji Virk, Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji came to live in village Virk near Phagwara. In their memory a beautiful Gurdwara Sahib is built where religious programmes are held everyday in the mornings and evenings. The road from GT Road to village Indnna Kalsskay on which the Gurdwara is situated is called 108 Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji Marg. The opening ceremony of the road was performed by the Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal during the 1998 Dharmic Jorr Mela on 28 July. Nagar Kirtans from the Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji Gurdwara takes place on 26 July, Gurpurabs of founder of Sikh religion Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Sarbansdani Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Barsi of Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji is celebrated in Villages Virk and Kahma, USA, Canada and UK.
MOTHER TONGUE PUNJABI
It is said that if you want to finish off any community, all you have to do is take their mother tongue language from them and that community will diminish by itself. Famous Punjabi Poet and Author Tarlochan Singh Chan Jandalvi who has written 25 books and sang his especially written song on the life and teachings of Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji from the stage in past Virk Pind Dharmic Jorr Mela was presented with a booklet on the History of Sant baba Phoola Singh Ji Gurdwara, Photo of Nawab Kapur Singh Virk 3rd Jathedar Akaal Takhat Sahib and a booklet resembling of alphabet during the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji Khalsa Raj. A stall was organised by Khalsa Aid International which raised £251.

The 118th Barsi of Sant Baba Phoola Singh Ji will be held at Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib on 23, 24, 25 July 2027.
