Namo Buddhaya! Jai Bhim! 🙏
On the sacred occasion of Buddha Purnima, celebrated on 01.05.2026 at Bodhi Vihar, Sooraiyur, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, we rejoice in a deeply meaningful and transformative moment — a family of four has chosen to walk the path of Dhamma together.
Prof. Dr. Prabhakaran, Ms. Rajeshwari, Ms. Monika, and Mr. Tamizhan have embraced Buddhism. This is not merely a change of identity, but a courageous step toward wisdom, compassion, and liberation. By turning towards the teachings of the Buddha, they have committed themselves to a life grounded in understanding, equality, and inner freedom.
The program began with meditation, followed by Buddha Puja. Dhammamitra Kaliyaperumal from the Triratna Bouddha Mahasangha delivered a Dhamma talk, explaining the significance of Deeksha. Offerings of candles, incense, and flowers were made, followed by the recitation of the six conditions given by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during conversion.
Dhammasahayak Selva Shanthi led the recitation of the Panchasila, and Dhammasahayak Sakya Selvam administered the 22 vows to those embracing Buddhism. The Bodhi Vihar Trust presented authentic conversion certificates to the newly embraced Buddhists. The program was witnessed by around 20 members of the Buddhist community.
May their journey be guided by the light of Dhamma.
May they grow in sīla (ethical living), samādhi (mental clarity), and paññā (wisdom).
May their home become a space of kindness, mindfulness, and fearless truth.
This is not just the joy of one family — it is a joy shared by all who aspire for a just and awakened society. Special thanks to Dr. Periyasamy Sakya, Dr. Hemamalini, and all others who have been supporting and facilitating people to embrace Buddhism.
Let us rejoice in their merits.
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! 🌼
