Periyar International has decided to confer me with Dr K Veeramani Social Justice Award 2025. It was officially announced by the Award Committee members Mr S Illangovan and Mr Lakshman S Tamil in the United States today. I am humbled to receive this communication to me. It is personally a great honor for me being recognized and acknowledged by the followers of Periyar Internationally. In 2016 Ambedkar Association of North America honored me with Dr Ambedkar International Award. That top for me was a great satisfaction coming from Ambedkarite world over.
Periyar International writes, ‘
‘The Award is established by Non Resident Indian followers of Periyar E V Ramasami, the great Social Reformer of India, residing across the world, to honor Dr K Veeramani, President of Dravidar Kazhgam. The Award recognizes, Dr Veeramani’s lifelong contribution to advancing Social Equality, protecting Human Rights, and leading courageous battles against systems of oppression that deny Justice and equality to Marginalised people.’
The International Award honors an individual or institution that has made a remarkable contribution to the cause of Social justice.
Former recipients of the Award include, Shri V P Singh, Sivaramakrishnan Kesri, Ms Mayawati, Dr M Karunanidhi, Mr Hanumantha Rao and Mr M K Stalin.
‘You have been chosen as the recipient of the K Veeramani Social Justice Award for 2025, in recognition of your lifelong committment to illuminating the struggles of marginalized communities and championing Social Justice, guided by the transformative ideals of Periyar, Ambedkar and Phule ‘. Your work has advanced human dignity, strengthened democratic values, and Contributed to building a more equitable India, an India Prepared to take it’s rightful place among leading nations of the world.’
The Award will be presented during a ceremony in Chennai on November 14th, 2025.’
This is my third International Award. The first one by Humanist International in Norway in 2011 and the second by Ambedkar Association of North America in 2017. I feel immensely satisfied by this acknowledgement from Ambedkarite, Periyarists and Humanists world over. For me, all this is huge acknowledgement of my silent work for the cause of Social justice and human rights.
I am thankful to Periyar International for chosing me for this year’s Dr K Veeramani Social Justice Award 2025. I am honored. Having read, seen and interacted with Dr Veeramani for over two decade, I feel deeply honored with the Award.
