Tis Hazari fracas: HC gives interim protection to 2 ASIs

New Delhi: A vehicle set ablaze during a scuffle that broke out between the Delhi Police and lawyers, leaving an advocate injured with a bullet injury to his chest, at the Tis Hazari court in New Delhi on Nov 2, 2019. According to sources, the scuffle broke out over a parking issue and resulted in arson, with some vehicles being set on fire.

New Delhi,  The Delhi High Court on Friday granted interim protection to two suspended officers of the Delhi Police who were allegedly involved in clashes with lawyers at the Tis Hazari court complex.

A division bench of the High Court presided by Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice C. Harishankar directed that “no coercive action” be taken against Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) Pawan and Kamta Prasad.

The interim protection has been granted til the next date of hearing on December 23.
