Calgary- Three candidates of Punjabi origin from Calgary have won during Canada’s federal elections 2025. Jasraj Halan, the two-term MP candidate from Calgary East, defeated his close opposition Liberal candidate Preeti Ubrai by 15198 votes for the third time by 31798 votes.
Conservative candidate Amanpreet Singh Gill from Calgary Skyview got 25427 votes while his close opposition Liberal Party candidate Hafeez Malik got 17225 votes. The feature of Skyview Riding was that Hafeez Malik, who lost by 8208 votes, visited the office of the winning candidate Amanpreet Gill others even after the results came in. NDP candidate Rajesh Angral got 1221 votes from the same riding while two independent candidates Minish Patel got 982 and optometrist Jag Anand got only 485 votes. During these elections, George Chahal, who has been a member of parliament for two times in the liberal government, had to face defeat.
Dalwinder Gill, the victorious Conservative candidate from Calgary McKnight, was declared winner by a margin of 20596 votes while George Chahal concedes defeat by a margin of 1381 votes to take 19215 votes. After election results, the three winning candidates of Conservative Party Jasraj Halan, Amanpreet Gill and Dalwinder Gill thanked the voters on the same platform and on this occasion Jasraj Halan made another big announcement that the three winning candidates will have same office
