New York (USA)Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast (SCCEC) and American Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (AGPC), the apex organizations of US Sikh Gurdwaras and Sikh groups vehemently condemn the inflammatory statement of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he is falsely accusing the Canadian Sikhs for an imagined attack on Hindu Temple in Brampton, Canada. The Sikhs were merely protesting the presence of Indian diplomats in the Hindu Temple in a peaceful manner because these diplomats have been using Indian Consulates in Canada as killing centers to plan the assassinations of Sikh Independence leaders. Consequently, the Canadian government recently expelled six Indian diplomats including Indian High Commissioner for these subversive activities. Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, the number two man in Modi’s cabinet along with previous head of Indian Intelligence RAW are being pursued by Canadian justice system for breach of Canadian sovereignty. We deplore the attempt by a frenzied armed Hindu mob to attack the Marlton Sikh Gurdwara and call by a Hindu priest to kill Sikhs. This is similar to the tactics used at the time of #Sikh_Genocide_1984 when gurdwaras were the primary targets for Hindu mobs. Sikh’s fight for sovereignty is with the Indian Government and not against Hindus, with whom they have co-existed peacefully in Punjab for centuries. Modi is trying to divide the two communities and divert attention of the world away from his killings of innocent minorities in India and overseas, which has made him an international pariah. We urge the Canadian government to handle this problem in a fair and equitable manner and punish the culprits so that peace and security of Canada is not compromised and right of Sikhs are safeguarded.
