Shammi Rana, a passionate advocate for traditional sports and games, will be honored with the FOG Global Icon Award 2024 at the 32nd FOG India Day Parade and Fair. This vibrant celebration of Indian culture, organized by the Federation of Indo-Americans of Northern California, will take place on August 18, 2024, in Fremont, California.

Celebrating a Visionary Leader

Mr. Rana serves as the Secretary-General of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games. His dedication to preserving and promoting traditional sports has earned him this prestigious award. Mr. Rana’s work has not only highlighted the cultural significance of these sports but also emphasized their role in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and community spirit.

A Lifetime of Achievement

Throughout his career, Mr. Rana has been a key figure in the world of traditional sports. His tenure as the Rapporteur of the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Traditional Sports & Games at UNESCO (2017-2020) was marked by significant achievements. He played a crucial role in developing policies that support the growth and sustainability of traditional sports, inspiring many countries to revive and promote their indigenous games.

As Secretary-General of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games, Mr. Rana has led numerous initiatives to raise global awareness and participation in traditional sports. His efforts have ensured that these cultural treasures are celebrated and preserved for future generations.
