Thiruvananthapuram, (Asian independent) The CPI-M’s student wing, the Student Federation of India (SFI) is fast becoming an embarrassment for it in recent times, especially in party-ruled Kerala.
Two SFI leaders Nikhil Thomas and K. Vidya were arrested by the state police in cases related to forged mark lists for getting admission for higher courses as well as for gaining employment as guest lecturers respectively.
And now, the conductor of a private bus plying in the Kerala’s commercial capital, Jiffin has complained that he was assaulted by a group of SFI workers in front of Maharaja’s College which is a red bastion.
SFI workers, according to the police complaint registered by Jiffin, had pulled him out of the bus and attacked him. He said that after threats from SFI, he was not working for the past ten days, and with a pregnant wife and dire needs at home, he had resumed duty on Sunday, but SFI workers assaulted him in front of the college.
The young bus conductor has been admitted to Ernakulam general hospital following the assault by SFI workers.
SFI’s Ernakulam district committee however said that the bus conductor was regularly creating problems for the students regarding the concession tickets.
In Kerala, both private and public sector buses are providing concessions to students.
