SDS College Jadla holds lecture to commemorate 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji

Nawanshahr  (Asian independent)   (jatinder pal singh kaler) : Sardar Dilbagh Singh (SDS) Government College had hosted a special lecture to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.The event aligns with the Punjab Government’s initiative to educate students on the Guru Sahib’s core values of “righteousness, truth, and justice.” Noted scholar Prof. Apinder Singh Mahilpuri delivered the keynote address, stating that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s teachings and sacrifice remain profoundly relevant in the modern era. Prof (Dr) Harjinder Singh, Principal of the college chaired the event. Prof. Mahilpuri highlighted the Guru ji’s unwavering commitment to truth, non-violence, and universal benevolence. Guru Sahib tirelessly fought against superstitions, caste discrimination, and untouchability besides advocating for every individual’s right to a life of dignity, he added. Mahilpuri emphasized that the Guru ji’s ultimate sacrifice was not solely for the Sikh faith but for the fundamental freedom of all religions in India, urging students to adopt the Guru’s spiritual conviction as a modern ideal. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Principal of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur, attended as a special guest and reinforced the message, describing the martyrdom as a “unique sacrifice for the protection of humanity.” He encouraged youth to integrate the Guru ji’s teachings into their daily lives. Prof. (Dr.) Harjinder Singh, Principal of SDS College, Jadla, stressed the importance of such educational programmes in cultivating religious, spiritual, and moral values among students. He highlighted that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji championed the weak and underprivileged and his life demonstrated the highest religious duty: to serve humanity. The college also organized a quiz competition based on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and honoured the winning students.
