It is over 12 years since we saw the brutal Kharilanji killings in Bhandara district of Maharashtra. The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court did not agree with the special court order which had granted death penalty to six culprits. The high court said that it was not the ‘rarest of the rare’ case and commuted the death penalty into life sentence.
The case has not seen its light in the Supreme Court so far. The same has happened with Tsunduru, Lakshamanpur Bathe, Shankarbigha, Karmchedu. After a few days of reporting, these cases die their natural death as the the case die in the very beginning because of the deliberate acts of omissions and commissions by the police.
Bhailal Bhutmange who worked as a security guard at a government hostel, lost his wife Surekha, son Sudhir and Raushan and daughter Priyanka were brutally murdered at their home. On January 20th, 2017 Bhaiyyalal himself died after a heart attack. Nobody is left to grieve.
This case reveal our caste mindset. The state does not pursue a case and courts have no time to remember so people are waiting in Jail and family elsewhere.
Bhaiyalal Bhutmange lost everyone in the family and got a job of a security guard. Is there no cost of his pains and sorrows ?
What did government do to rehabilitate him ?
What did Maharashtra government do to pursue this case in the Supreme Court so that the guilty are punished and it send a strong signal to others. Has Bihar government done anything to pursue the cases on Lakshmanpur Bathe and Shankar Bigha where all the culprits got honorably released by the Patna High Court. Why the cases are not followed in the courts diligently.
This is a fraud on the indigenous people of the country.
There is an urban bias apart from caste bias.
It is time for the Supreme Court to fix a special bench for cases related to caste violence, communal violence, Dalits and Adivasi issues. The court should issue suomoto issue notices in these cases.
Since our activists do not demand a crore rupees and a government jobs for those who lost.. here everybody is killed. Nobody survive.
When Nirbhaya died, the UPA government tried to cover it up by offering house to the family, One crore compensation and other things. There are thousands of cases like her but why no compensation.
The cases are not pursued.
When followers of Manu have the task to protect the constitution drafted by Baba Saheb then such dereliction are bound to happen.
It is time to ask difficult and uncomfortable questions and not from the brahmanical leadership, intellectuals and elite but to those who claim to represent the Dalit Bahujans too.
Bhaiyyalal Bhutmange is dead without getting justice during his life. This is the dirty reality. Kharilanji still reminds us that Indians remain imprisoned to their caste and state structure operate carefully to ensure the brahmanical supremacy.
India will never grow if its Bahujans dont get justice.
Democracy will always remain threatened unless there is equality and equal representation from all the sections.
A powerful minority that rules the country can not held it for ransom endlessly. It will have to leave but how and when is the biggest question.
