(THE ASIAN INDEPENDENT)- The importance of places named after notable individuals lies in their role of honouring and commemorating those who have made significant societal contributions. By naming a place after a historical figure, we are not only preserving their legacy, but we are also recognizing their impact on history and culture. Dr.Ambedkar park at Ernakulam district is one of the parks named after Dr.Ambedkar, the father of Indian constitution and first law minister of India. These places serve as a reminder of the contributions made by him, and they can provide a sense of inspiration and motivation for future generations irrespective of caste, class, religion, sex etc. This park serves as a reminder for communities working on social justice of the ongoing struggle for equality and justice, and they can inspire individuals to continue fighting for these causes.

Social endosmosis is the uninterrupted free flow of ideas, values and persons between and across different sections of the society. But the hierarchy of the caste order prevents the endosmosis from happening freely. Such parks pave way to social endosmosis where people irrespective of what they are can have interface and that makes a society. Speaking of the imperatives of social democracy, Dr. Ambedkar said:

“it was, indeed, a way of life, which recognizes liberty, equality and fraternity as the principles of life and which cannot be divorced from each other: Liberty cannot be divorced from equality; equality cannot be divorced from liberty. Nor can liberty and equality be divorced from fraternity. Without equality, liberty would produce the supremacy of the few over the many. Equality without liberty would kill individual initiative. Without fraternity, liberty and equality could not become a natural course of things.”
