Planting of trees in Ambedkar Bhawan

Jalandhar (The Asian Independent): Dr. G.C. Kaul, General Secretary of Ambedkar Bhawan Trust (Regd.), said in a press statement that the meeting of trustees of Ambedkar Bhawan, was held under the chairmanship of Dr. R.  L. Jassi today at Ambedkar Bhawan, Jalandhar.  Mr. L.R. Balley, Sohan Lal Former DPI Colleges, Baldev Raj Bhardwaj and Dr. Tarsem Sagar attended the meeting. Among other issues, construction of new  building for the Ambedkar Bhawan was also discussed. Dr. Kaul said that all the trustees had congratulated  the founding trustee Mr. L. R. Balley for completing  90 years of his life and entering 91st year. On this occasion Mr. Balley ji planted Ashoka tree in Ambedkar Bhavan and said that we should plant trees in abundance as the trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways and the effects of flooding can be reduced. Trees provide food, protection and homes for many birds and mammals.
