Jammu, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh on Friday visited the forward posts in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri and Reasi districts.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Lt. Colonel Devender Anand said: “Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command, accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Paramjit Singh, visited the forward posts in Rajouri and Reasi sectors to interact with the soldiers and review the operational preparedness.
“During his visit, the Northern Army Commander was briefed about the current operational situation on the Line of Control (LoC), ceasefire violations, preparedness for strong and speedy response to enemy actions at the LoC, actions being taken to ensure a robust counter infiltration grid and the use of new generation technology for enhancing operational capability.”
“The Army Commander was also updated on the measures being undertaken to ensure secure environment in the region for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
The spokesperson said that Singh complimented the synergy between the army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the civil administration in maintaining peace and stability in the hinterland.
Singh also applauded the various initiatives being undertaken in the region under Operation Sadbhavana, a goodwill programme, for the upliftment of the local population.
“He was appreciative of the measures and standard operating procedures being instituted by the units and the formations in their area of responsibility to minimise casualties due to increased ceasefire violations,” the spokesperson said.
