JAMMU: Several socio-political organizations have strongly rejected the demand for separate statehood for Jammu on communal lines. Speaking at the JK Unity Conference organized by United Peace Alliance in collaboration with several other socio-political organizations including CMI(M) CPI, Lok Munch, IDP, Akli Dal (Asr) The speakers who came from all the regions and subrejions of Jammu Kashmir said some communal elements have once again started propagating the narrative of separate statehood for Jammu. However, they said, the people of the state, especially those from Jammu region, would oppose any such demand tooth and nail.
They said they are the same people who have destroyed Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating its special status, bifurcating it into two parts, and reducing this historic state to a Union Territory. They added that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been paying a heavy price due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
The Chairman United Peace Alliance Mir Shahid Saleem announced many initiatives to be taken to oppose the fake narratives being paddled by the communal forces for the further fragmentation of Jammu Kashmir.
Instead of further fragmenting the region, they demanded a permanent and peaceful political settlement of the Jammu Kashmir dispute throgh a comprehensive dialogue process with all the stakeholders. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included ID Khajuria, Ghulam Kh. Ahmed, Mir Shahid Saleem, Com. Rakesh, Syed Saleem Gilani, Col. Mustafa, Kulbhushan Singh, Com. Subash, Santosh Labro, Narender Singh Khalsa, Gitin Singh, Com. Maqbool, Ishtiaq Qadri, Com. Hari Singh, Muddasir Qadri, Syed Jameel Kazmi, Sheikh Yousaf, Dr. Amar Chand Bhagat, Babu Hussain Malik, Rajkumar Lalotra, Com. Sukhdev, Harsis Singh, Santosh Khajuria, and Harsis Singh Kranti, among others.
