NAKSHI BOLD & BEAUTIFUL – Runway for Cancer Survivors

A unique fashion show to weave social fabric by encouraging Cancer Survivors to walk on ramp wearing designer clothes to uplift the moral allowing them to regain confidence to start a new phase of life.

It also supported fund raiser for two Cancer charities namely Macmillan Cancer Support and Movember foundation. 

 NAKSHI BOLD & BEAUTIFUL, powered by AAVARAN 2018 (Back to Basics) was organised by Inspiring Indian Women (IIW) Not for Profit organisation, NAKSHI and Confluence (An NGO from India) on 25th November 2018 in Holiday Inn, Regent park, London where Cancer Survivors walked on the ramp showcasing designs from eight renowned Indian designers. This fashion show was organised to support Cancer charities like Macmillan Cancer support and Movember Foundation to raise donations and help cancer survivors regain confidence to start new life after struggling and surviving with horrifying cancer treatment.

When more than 10 Cancer survivors walked the ramp with aspiration to start new phase of life and lead by example to inspire others, all people gave standing ovations and clapped to salute the courage showed by these survivors.

Confluence Chairperson Ms. Smita Shrivastav and her team from India flew in for the cause and to promote the Make in India campaign and showcase the work of renowned designers which included Rina Dhaka, Madhuri Barman, Asma Gulzar, Kanchan Sabharwal, Jagruti Sanghavi, Kappil Kishor, Dhruv Sehgal (Men’s Fashion) and Frontier Raas “Raas Saris of India “collection who are opening a store in Southhall, London in Jan 2019. The entire show was choreographed by celebrity fashion choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and handled by ITW Playworx UK Office. 

There were more than 35+ Female and male models along with 10 Cancer Survivors who showcased designs from these Indian fashion designers.

The chief guest of the day the legendary Ms. Shahnaz Husain was presented with an Award for. “Ayurvedic Innovation Award for Chemoline Range, specially formulated for Cancer Survivors” by the Guest of Honour, Shri Shashikant Patel. One of the senior leader of the overseas office of BJP

Amazing Motivational dance was presented by Mr. Kamlesh Patel (Dance India Dance fame) to lift the spirits of cancer survivors and show to the people that being handicapped does not limit someone when there is willpower and courage to achieve something. Mr Kamlesh Patel presented thrilling dance performance which surprised everyone as he is especially abled and still does these dance performances to spread awareness and motivate people to be strong mentally even if not physically.

 Cancer Survivors also cut a 5 feet long cake to celebrate starting new phase in the life after going through horrifying treatment.

Dr. Pooja Joshi, Oncologist from NHS explained about effects of Cancer, treatments and how we need to support patient after detection of cancer and during the treatment. She also shared her own experiences of working with Cancer patients.

Icing on cake was entertainment by the very popular heart throb UK Artist Navin Kundra and sensational Radhika Maya which made the event live with Bollywood beats and made everybody dance on rhythm of their music.

Painting Auction of three paintings was hosted by Councillor Ranjit Gill. Three paintings were sponsored by Ritu Jalan, Smitha Sonthalia and Nakshi artist which helped raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Movember Foundation.  Raffle draw at the end include Air India tickets and other vouchers supported by sponsors to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The show was compered by the first Asian Woman Toastmaster in UK, Sonal Dave.

Movember foundation Fund raise campaign run by Team Nakshi with significant contribution from Daya Patil and Swapnil Barate along with Heston Lions helped raise £1300 for Movember Foundation.

Event was covered by well know media houses and PR agencies and few of them were – ASIAN LITE, BBC Asian Network, MA TV, CNN News 18 and UK 44

The show was organised by Ankur Sharma (Director ITW Playworx UK)

Rashmi Mishra (Director of IIW) and Rahul Ithape (Founder/CEO of NAKSHI) and was supported by dedicated volunteers of Inspiring Indian Women (IIW) organisation.

Over all the event was tremendously successful and achieved its purpose of creating awareness regarding crushing cancer with positive attitude and healthy eating habit and also raise significant funds for two cancer Charities.
