Rabat,   Morocco will host a meeting of global coalition against the Islamic State (IS) here on Tuesday to discuss threats posed by the IS in Africa, the Foreign Ministry has said.

The meeting, the first of its kind in the context of coalition action, will gather member states of the coalition, as well as African countries and relevant regional and international organisations, Xinhua news agency reported.

The meeting aims to review the development of the IS threat in Africa and discuss its local manifestations, a statement said on Sunday.

It will also explore possible ways of cooperating and strengthening synergies between various stakeholders to cope with them, the statement said.

The meeting also provides a detailed discussion of the latest developments in the Middle East and other regions, it added.

Formed in September 2014, the coalition gathers 75 countries and aims to degrade and ultimately defeat the IS.
