Panaji: BJP National Working President J.P. Nadda accompanied by Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, leads the state's first major pro Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) rally, in Panaji on Jan 3, 2020.

Panaji,  India’s prestige has boosted internationally thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump’s stroll around Houston’s NRG football stadium holding hand in hand in September last year, BJP national working President J.P. Nadda said on Friday.

“Is it not true that India’s image has been boosted in the world? Did you ever think that an Indian PM will go to Houston breaking all protocols and the US president will attend his function? And not just attend the function, but walk around the stadium holding Modi’s hand,” Nadda said at a pro-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally held here on Friday.

“It is a respect accorded to lakhs of Indians which was given by Trump, due to Modi,” Nadda said.

The top BJP official was referring to the much-touted ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston, Texas, held in September last year.

Nadda also said that countries across the spectrum were trying to woo India, thanks to Modi’s charisma.

“The US and China do not get along. The Indian PM comes back from the US (in 2019) and next week Chinese President meets Modi in Mahabalipuram. Both want to be friends with India. Japan too wants to be friends. Saudi Arabia and Iran are not friends, but they too want to be with India. Such is Modi’s personality,” Nadda said.
