Mishra bats for recruitment of more Arunachalis in armed forces

New Delhi,   Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) on Thursday called on Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed recruitment of more youth from the frontier states bordering China in the Indian armed forces.

During the meeting, the Governor expressed his gratitude to the Defence Minister for addressing the basic needs of the local communities living in the border areas through Army units located in the frontiers.

He also conveyed the goodwill of the people of the State for the new Arunachal Scout Battalion.

Mishra, who has been spearheading an initiative with the serving armed forces officers of Arunachal Pradesh, called, ‘Pay Back to Society Group’ (PBSG), informed the minister that under PBSG, the officers will be coming to their home state and visit various schools and colleges to motivate the youth to join the Indian armed forces.

Promising the Governor that she would visit Arunachal Pradesh, Sitharaman said she has a close affiliation with Mishmi Tribe.
