Massive Participation in Mahapadav Across India
Warning Against Corporate Communal Policies of the Modi Government
Demand of Policy Change to Protect Rights of Farmers and Workers

(Asian Independent)- The three day Mahapadav- Mass Sit-in Struggle called by the ever first all India convention of Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions/ Federations has been started today, 26th November 2023, in front of the Raj Bhawans in the capital city of the respective states across India with the massive participation of tens of thousand of farmers and workers especially women and youth. The iMahapadav will continue next two days and end by afternoon on 28th November 2023. Various leaders of SKM and Central Trade Unions and Federations attended the Mahapadav in different state capitals.

The Major demands of the Mahapadav includes legally guaranteed MSP@C2+50% for all crops with procurement, comprehensive Loan Waiver for all the peasant households, withdraw the Electricty Bill 2022, withdraw the 4 labour codes, provide minimum wage of Rs. 26000 per month, eradicate unemployment and enact employment as fundamental right, strengthen MNREGS with 200 days of job per year and Rs. 600 as daily wage, halt privatisation of Public Sector Units, halt price rise and dismiss and prosecute Ajay Mishra Teni -Union Minister of State for Home Affairs- the chief conspirator of Lakhimpur Kheri massacre of farmers among others.

As per the report received, there was historic mass participation in the state capitals including Chandigarh, Panchakula, Shimla, Dehra Doon, Srinagar, Delhi Civil Lines, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Kolkatta, Gowhati, Bhuwaneshwar, Vijayawada, Chennai, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram.

This struggle is part of the continuing strike actions called jointly and in coordination by the SKM and the Joint Platform of CTU’s and Federations against the anti- worker, anti- farmer policies being pursued by the Narendra Modi led Union Government. The struggle will be intensified in the coming months by extending the struggles to the ground level ensuring massive participation of the farmers and workers.

This struggle will ensure the defeat of the corporate communal nexus and ensure policy change in the country to protect the interests of the toiling people especially the farmers and workers.

SKM congratulates all the workers and farmers who have made the Mahapadav grand success. This strike will be marked in the history as a bold step to save the country from the twin danger of corporate and communal menace being patronage by the Modi Government.
