While the Malwa region of Punjab has made a significant contribution to the heritage of Punjab in terms of culture, history and politics, it has also played an important role in the list of martyrs. Amar Shaheed Budhu Khan, a pole star of Shahina village in Barnala district of Malwa region, was killed in a landslide in Arunachal Pradesh.

Immortal Shaheed Budhu Khan was born on May 7, 1981 in the village of Shahina to father Suleiman Khan and mother Chhoto. During the eradication of terrorism in 1990, Suleiman Khan, the father of the immortal Shaheed Budhu Khan, was subjected to blind torture for some reason. Uncle Gulzar Khan took over. From his childhood, Shaheed Budhu Khan was interested in playing Kabaddi along with his education. Shaheed Budhu Khan was educated under the tutelage of his uncle Gulzar Khan. After graduating from the village school, he passed Class XI from Jangiana School and joined the Indian Army on June 2, 2001.

After basic army training, he got his first posting in 267 Engineer Regiment. Then in 2007 he was given a temporary 85 RCC. Given the opportunity to serve in the Cutting Platoon, a similar unit was tasked with building a strategically important road in Arunachal Pradesh. Shaheed Budhu Khan was on a rock-cutting duty when he was martyred on February 22, 2008 while rescuing his comrades and valuable machinery due to a sudden landslide.

After his martyrdom, Shaheed Budhu Khan, the great grandson of the land of Punjab, was honored by President Pratibha Patil with the Shaoria Chakra. This Shauria Chakra met Shaheed Budhu Khan’s mother Chhoto on March 25, 2009 during the Congress-led government. In return for the martyrdom of Budhu Khan, the Government of India honored him with the Shaoria Chakra. The Government Senior Secondary School at village Shahina was named after Amar Shaheed Budhu Khan under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal in association with all member Indian Ex-Servicemen’s League including Sardar Darbara Singh Guru. Meanwhile, on November 23, 2012, a statue of Immortal Shaheed Budhu Khan was erected in the village by the Panchayat of village Shahina. At such a place every year the village panchayat, the whole family and those who have a sense of love for the martyrs pay homage to the immortal Shaheed Budhu Khan.

The family of the immortal martyr Budhu Khan has been facing various difficulties from time to time but still the family of the stern and virtuous martyr has always been thankful to Allah Tala and has been living a good life. We all salute Shauria Chakra winner Amar Shaheed Budhu Khan on the day of his martyrdom and pray to Allah to keep our martyr in our hearts forever so that our future generations will always remember the sacrifices of the martyrs.
