Srinagar, (Asian independent) A protest march by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against the new land laws for Jammu and Kashmir was foiled by the administration on Thursday here.

The protest march was being organised from the party headquarters and several PDP leaders and supporters were detained by the police deployed in strength near the party office.

PDP Chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said the party office in Srinagar has been sealed by the administration and workers have been arrested.

“PDP office in Srinagar sealed by J&K admin & workers arrested for organising a peaceful protest. A similar protest was allowed in Jammu so why was it thwarted here? Is this your definition of ‘normalcy’ that’s being showcased in the world?” Mehbooba tweeted.

In another tweet, she stated that PDP won’t tolerate any demographic changes to Jammu and Kashmir.

“PDP’s @parawahid, Khurshid Alam, Rouf Bhat,@MohsinQayoom_A & @buttkout were arrested by J&K police for protesting against the settler colonial land laws thrusted upon people of J&K. We will continue to raise our voice collectively & wont tolerate attempts to change demographics,” she tweeted.

She said the government wants to curb the dissent but shows no ‘machismo’ for fighting China.

“Many others like @TahirsyeedK , Yasin Bhat & Hameed Kohsheen also arrested. A government desperate to curb any kind of dissent & ready to crush its own people but all the machismo disappears when it comes to fighting China at the LAC,” Mehobba Mufti tweeted.
