Jammu, (Asian independent) The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway will remain closed on Friday for vehicular traffic due to slated maintenance, officials said.
“Tomorrow on 12-03-2021, no vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on Jammu-Srinagar NHW between Nashree and Jawahar Tunnel in view of maintenance/repairing of the road,” the Traffic Police said.
The highway, the lifeline of the Kashmir Valley being the main road link connecting it with the rest of the country, and seeing trucks laden with essential supplies and other vehicles pass through it, was closed several times this winter due to snowfall and landslides triggered by rains.
The Mughal road, which is a second road link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region through Bafliaz in the Poonch district, is closed due to snow accumulation.
