Jerusalem, (Asian independent) An israeli medic was attacked while visiting the Jewish ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem to take coronavirus samples, said authorities.
The Israeli Magen David Adom emergency medical service said that the emergency medic, wearing protection kit near a subject’s home, was on Saturday attacked with stones and other objects, reports xinhua news agency.
The medic was wounded in the head and taken to a hospital, the service said.
In addition, the windshields of a Jerusalem Municipality’s vehicle used by the medical staff, was also smashed.
The medic’s team came to the ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood to test one local resident who had symptoms of COVID-19.
In the Jewish ultra-Orthodox communities in Israel, there have recently been several violations of the government’s ban on gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus.
So far, Israel has reported 7,851 coronavirus cases, with 44 deaths.
