Indian Workers Association Condemns Racist Attack on Sikh Woman in Oldbury
Calls Public Meeting with Politicians, MPs, Councillors, Community and Trade Union Leaders

THE ASIAN INDEPENDENT UK- The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain) is outraged and deeply concerned about the horrific, racially and sexually motivated assault on a young Sikh woman in Oldbury on Tuesday, 9 September 2025.

This was not only a violent attack on an innocent woman but also an attack on the dignity, safety, and rights of our entire community. The perpetrators’ racist words – “You don’t belong in this country, get out” – reflect the toxic rise of hatred and racism in Britain.

Sital Singh Gill, General Secretary, Indian Workers Association (G.B.) stated:
“This barbaric crime has shocked us all. We strongly condemn this racist and misogynistic attack in the strongest possible terms. It is not just the victim and her family who suffer – our whole community feels the pain of this violence. We demand that the police, Crown Prosecution Service, and the courts take the toughest possible action against these thugs. Justice must be swift, visible, and uncompromising.”

“The Indian Workers Association will not stay silent. We are launching a Justice for Oldbury Victim Campaign to mobilise community organisations, trade unions, and women’s groups. We will put pressure on the authorities until justice is delivered. This attack shows why we must stand together against racism, sexism, and division in Britain.”

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the victim and her family. We send them our solidarity, courage, and commitment – they will not be left alone in this fight for justice.”
Our Demands
• A full and urgent investigation by the police.
• The CPS to bring the most serious charges possible.
• Courts to impose maximum sentences.
• Political leaders across all parties to publicly condemn this attack and commit to real measures protecting minority communities.

Our Action
The IWA is calling on all progressive organisations, trade unions, and community groups to join us in ensuring:
• Greater protection for women in public spaces.
• An end to the growing climate of hate and racism.
• Justice that is not only done but clearly seen to be done.
Further to that, the Indian Workers Association (G.B.) and Kohinoor Radio 97.3 FM are jointly organising a public meeting at the Kohinoor Radio Main Conference Hall.

The public meeting will take place on Sunday, 21 September 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Kohinoor Radio Main Conference Hall.
We will invite politicians of all parties, Members of Parliament, councillors, and community leaders to address this urgent issue, and we expect it to be acted upon powerfully for the benefit of the whole community.
This meeting will also be broadcast live worldwide via 97.3 FM and www.krfm.co.uk.
It is clear: there is no place for racially motivated attacks, violence, or rape against women in Britain.

Our Solidarity
We stand shoulder to shoulder with the victim and her family at this painful time. Violence, racism, and misogyny have no place in Britain.
Justice must be done – and it must be seen to be done.
