Nay Pyi Taw,  The Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE) reported its findings on the Rakhine issue to Myanmar President U Win Myint on Monday.

The four-member team led by Rosario Manalo, former deputy foreign minister of the Philippines, submitted the report to Myint at the presidential palace here, reports Xinhua news agency.

The independent commission was established by the President’s Office on July 30, 2018, as part of its national initiative to address reconciliation, peace, stability and development in the state.

Assisted by national and international legal and technical experts, the commission was tasked to investigate the allegations of human rights violation and related issues following the attacks by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) in 2017.

The ARSA armed group launched attacks on police outposts in Myanmar’s Rakhine state on Aug. 25, 2017, displacing a vast number of residents to neighbouring Bangladesh.
