Malak Hijazi (Asian independent) The Electronic Intifada, Israel has been starving us for months. It cut off all aid to Gaza in March, only to recently approve a US-led, militarized aid site run by the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.” The consequences are not abstract, they are visceral, immediate and devastating. On 27 May in Rafah, thousands of hungry and desperate people surged toward the site seeking food and water. They had no option .. One image went viral: Palestinians packed tightly into fenced queues, in a space resembling a cattle chute, waiting under the burning sun for bags containing the bare minimum, flour, canned beans, dry pasta, vegetable oil. Why must we be humiliated and starved before we are killed? .. It is a calculated, systematic strategy: to fracture our spirits in Gaza, strip away our dignity, and prepare us, and the world, for the next, more acceptable form of violence. It makes us long for death, convincing us it is the better option. I regularly hear people say, “They’re lucky,” when someone is killed as if finally, they got relief. I’ve even seen people outside Gaza commenting on the murder of our children with similar words. Why are we left with only two options: humiliation or death? .. We’ve been reduced to hungry and desperate people with children carrying empty plates and pots, confined to dirty, temporary shelters. This is a prelude to death. It is economic, psychological and social conditioning that makes the intolerable seem ordinary .. The voices of the wounded and patients screaming in pain were terrifying. I cried in silence like I had never cried before. My life wasn’t taken from me, but my dignity was .. To understand what is happening in Gaza, one must look beyond the images of destruction and see the architecture beneath. It is an architecture built not only from the rubble of homes and infrastructure, but from the daily rituals of humiliation, the kind that teaches you to expect nothing, to never raise your head beyond a pot of tasteless food or a jug of unclean water.It conditions you to accept suffering as routine. To see yourself, eventually, the way the world sees you, as a burden, or a threat, or as the former Israeli defense minister yoav gallant put it, “human animals.”This is the kind of violence that rewrites who we are. It reshapes not just how we live, but how we dream, what we expect from life, how we remember and even how we grieve.
(Every instance of humiliation shall be avenged. This is the larger lesson of the wars against colonialism, against untouchability and caste, of the struggles for dignity and self worth everywhere)

At one of the “distribution zones” in the Israeli military-run Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Once Palestinians have travelled miles on foot under gunfire and bombardment, they get to enter these zones within the death camps. As you can see, the distribution is random and chaotic aiming to get people accustomed to battling with one another to get aid or food. “This is the aid of humiliation and the aid of murder,” says Mohammad al-Muqattram, grieving his 20-year-old brother Moaz, who was killed while trying to collect food for himself and his siblings. “He went because of hunger,” Mohammad said. “He used to cry from stomach pain, saying, ‘My stomach hurts! I want to eat!’” Moaz lost his mother at eight years old, only to be buried twelve years later, starved and shot as he searched for a meal. “He died in the prime of his youth,” Mohammad continued, carrying his brother’s body. Moaz had been shot by Israeli occupation forces yesterday as he tried to reach a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation death point in Rafah. This came after GHF claimed to have “reformed” its aid system, an apparatus that has already led to hundreds of casualties. Eight martyrs fell yesterday, dozens more were wounded, and today another seven were killed. Gaza Humantarian Foundation is not a humanitarian body but a mechanism used by the Israeli military to subdue and manage Gaza’s starving population under the false banner of aid. Jun 7 2025
Despite Israeli occupation forces targeting civilians, massive crowds still made their way to the Israeli military-run Gaza Humanitarian Foundation point in Netzarim. At around 4: 20 in the morning, the site had already been emptied out of all food. Many arrived early in hopes of securing food, only to find the aid already gone. Most left empty-handed after enduring hours of gunfire, surveillance, and deepening hunger. Dozens of injuries have been reported, but the full toll remains unknown as more wounded continue to arrive at hospitals. GHF sites function as a facade for an illegal and inhumane system designed to control and humiliate a besieged population held in what human rights experts and legal scholars identify as death points. Israeli forces carried out massacres across the Gaza Strip this week, killing 497 Palestinians and wounding nearly 2,100 between 5 June and 11 June, targeting Palestinian men, women and children in residential buildings, school shelters, tent shelters, and at so-called aid distribution points.Israel killed at least 123 Palestinians between Tuesday and Wednesday alone, according to the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza.Nearly half of those deaths recorded in those 24 hours were people killed while trying to retrieve meager parcels of aid at the US-Israeli distribution points. Since the shadowy, so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began its operations two weeks ago, the health ministry says that more than 220 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,800 injured while trying to obtain food .. Israel cut the last remaining internet access line in northern Gaza this week, plunging the area into a near blackout and preventing people from calling ambulances after massive airstrikes. On Thursday, 12 June, a total communications blackout was reported across central and southern Gaza as well, collapsing internet and phone services following Israeli airstrikes on telecom infrastructure

The report documents a broad range of violations perpetrated against Palestinian women, men, girls and boys across the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 7 October 2023 that constitutes a major element in the ill-treatment of Palestinians and are part of the unlawful occupation and persecution of Palestinians as a group.“The evidence collected by the Commission reveals a deplorable increase in sexual and gender-based violence,” said Navi Pillay, Chair of the Commission. “There is no escape from the conclusion that Israel has employed sexual and gender-based violence against Palestinians to terrorise them and perpetuate a system of oppression that undermines their right to self-determination.” .. Specific forms of sexual and gender-based violence – such as forced public stripping and nudity, sexual harassment including threats of rape, as well as sexual assault – comprise part of the Israeli Security Forces’ standard operating procedures toward Palestinians.Other forms of sexual and gender-based violence, including rape and violence to the genitals, were committed either under explicit orders or with implicit encouragement by Israel’s top civilian and military leadership, the report said.A climate of impunity also exists with regard to sexual and gender-based crimes committed by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, with the aim of instilling fear into the Palestinian community and expelling them.
