GURU NANAK DEV JI BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED IN HOSPITAL

As part of the annual Guru Nanak Dev Ji Birthday Celebrations, National Sikh Chaplaincy Prayer Day was held at The Main Chapel of the Leicester General Hospital, Gwendoline Road, Leicester on Wednesday 14th November from 11 am – 12.30 pm which raised £110 for Leicester Hospitals charity.

Sikh Chaplin Kartar Singh Bring welcomed everyone and said that the prayer day was organised for the recovery of patients, well-being and good spirits of those in hospitals and world peace.  He also pointed out that Chairman, University Hospitals of Leicester,  Karamjit Singh sent his apologies for not able to attend due to very important NHS meeting and praised the vital work done by the volunteers in the Leicester Hospitals.

Chairperson of Leicester Council of Faiths Fyaz Suleman was pleased to be invited and congratulated all on the birthday celebrations of the founder of Sikh religion Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Head of Chaplaincy Services Leicester Hospitals said he has always welcomed change in the 24 years since he started work in Leicester and recently attended the Eid and Diwali celebrations.

Shabad Kirtan was performed by Bibi Manjinder Kaur and Kartar Singh.

One of the organisers of the celebrations Sikh Chaplin Volunteer Sulakhan Singh Dard thanked all those who made the celebrations a success as well as those who donated towards the Leicester Hospitals charity.
