Govt transfers SER GM almost a month after Balasore train accident

New Delhi,(Asian independent) The government on Friday transferred South Eastern Railway’s General Manager Archana Joshi, almost a month after the horrific train accident in Odisha’s Balasore that left 293 people died.

The government said in an order: “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) for appointment of officers in Level-16 of IRMS from the date of assumption of charge of the respective post on or after July 1, 2023.”
The ACC appointed Anil Kumar Mishra, IRSSE, as the General Manager of South Eastern Railway by replacing Joshi, who has been transferred as General Manager at Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, Karnataka.
The ACC also appointed Milind K. Deouskar, an IRSS officer, as Secretary in the Railway Board.
On June 2, Coromandal Express, Howrah-SMVT Superfast Express and a goods train collided near the Bahanaga railway station in Balasore, which killed 288 passengers besides injuring over 800 others. Five more passengers died during treatment.
