
Says Punjabis set an inspiring example of unity and helping hand for people facing floods
Nawanshahr /Banga (Asian independent) (Jatinderpal Singh kaler ) Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria accompanied by his wife Anita Kataria on Saturday paid rich tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh and other great martyrs of freedom struggle at Khatkar Kalan. He asserted that we were enjoying the fruits of independence as our freedom fighters made unparalleled sacrifices to get the country free. After paying floral tributes at memorial and statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Governor Gulab Chand Kataria stated that though these icons of freedom struggle embraced martyrdom for the country but they infused strong spirit of nationalism and patriotism among the younger generations. He further emphasized that the foundation of India’s independence and its subsequent progress laid by the sacrifices. He said the contribution of these great sons of the soil in building the country’s freedom would always be inspiring. Referring to the current situation of the state, the Governor said that floods and drug menace were the major challenges before it. He said the government was making tireless efforts to overcome these challenges. He commended the unflinching spirit, remarkable unity and compassion exhibited by the Punjabis especially during the floods. He said that Punjabis set a new milestone of inspiration by extending helping hand to brethren in distress due to floods besides making all out efforts to support the flood hit people and areas. He mentioned that the state government is assessing the losses caused by the floods and that financial assistance was also being released to the affected areas. The Governor also lauded the administration, Indian Army and Punjab Police for their proactive role in safeguarding lives and property in tough time besides Punjabis for working shoulder to shoulder with them in relief efforts.Earlier, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and his wife Anita Kataria visited Jain Sthanak at Nawanshahr, where they attended spiritual discourses and sought blessings. Deputy Commissioner Ankurjeet Singh, SSP Mehtab Singh, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
