World famous Punjabi Songwriter Tarlochan Singh Chann Jandialvi was recognised with Lifetime Achievement Award by the 1995 formed voluntary organisation Punjabi Listeners Club on Friday 6th February 2026 in Wolverhampton.
‘Chann Jandialvi’ hails from the well-known village of Jandiala, district Jallandar in the Doaba area of Punjab. Who came to the United Kingdom in 1968 He has written 23 books in his beloved Punjabi language. He is a regular participant of Kavi Darbar in the East and West Midlands, the surrounding areas and Sikh television channels such as Akaal TV, Sangat TV and Sikh Channel.
Whenever he visits Punjab ‘Chann Jandialvi’ Ji is always invited to Literacy events and is proud to have taken part at POIANTA SAHIB Gurdwara where Sikh religion’s tenth Guru, Sarbansdani, Giver of Amrit and huge respecter of Poets Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj used to hold Kavi Darbars in various languages.
Tarlochan Singh ‘Chann Jandialavi’ is the writer of very famous song ‘MADHANIANN’ sang by Surinder Kaur {Punjab Di Koel}. This song was so popular that it was heard through large speakers in nearly every village of Punjab at weddings and other party occasions.
Punjabi and English on line newspaper Samaj Weekly Editor Devinder Chander said” Chann Ji is a very kind hearted person, lover of Punjabi Language, and well liked where ever he goes. I am very happy that he has been recognised with Lifetime Achievement Award which he ricdeserves.”
Punjabi Listeners Club has been promoting Maa Boli Punjabi, Culture and Sikh religion since it was formed on the 3rd anniversary of BBC Radio Leicester’s Punjabi Programme on 9th September 1995 and has raised thousands of pounds for UK registered charities.
Punjabi Listeners Club’s Co-Ordinator Tarlochan Singh Virk pointed out “In the 30 years we have we have awarded Lifetime Achievement to Channi Singh OBE Alaap Group for services to Punjabi songs and music ; Giani Balwinder Singh Rangila for Serviss to Sikh religion. We had planned to give this award to respected Tarlochan Singh ‘Chann Jandialvi’ at the club’s 30th anniversary Punjabi Language Seminar in September 2025 but due to other commitments ‘Chann Jandialvi’ Ji could not attend. I am pleased that his deserved trophy has been presented to him few days after his happy birthday. We wish him good health and happiness.”
