New Delhi,   Delhi’s Leader of Oppositon Vijender Gupta on Monday demanded a white paper on the functioning of Delhi Jal Board to bring forth true picture of unprecedented water crises, corruption and failure to implement various schemes.

He condemned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, also the Minister-in-charge of DJB, for raising the issue of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids on it while “trying to cover up corruption” in the water utility.

Gupta, while speaking to media in the Assembly, said that the Asian Development Bank approved Rs 2,200 crore projects of water improvement pertaining to Wazirabad water treatment plant and Japan International Co-operation Agency also approved Rs 2,000 crore projects of water improvement pertaining to Chandrawal water treatment plant.

“But the government failed to implement both,” he said, adding that the Aam Aadmi Party government could not even set up 14 decentralised sewage treatment plants for which 50 per cent funds were provided by Central government.

During the last day of the assembly’s special session on Monday, the BJP MLAs first walked out of the Assembly and were later marshalled out for raising the issue of the DJB.
