The columns of economic, educational and government job representation should be increased in the census

S.R. Darapuri I.P.S.(Retd)

Lucknow,   (Asian independent)   All India People’s Front has called the decision of the Cabinet of the Government of India to conduct caste census along with the general census a right step. Along with this, the government has demanded to time-bound this work, so that it does not remain pending like the decisions of women reservation law. The National Working Committee of AIPF has said that the census was done at an interval of every 10 years, but in 2021 the census was postponed due to the corona epidemic. Due to this, the work of updating the National Population Register (NPR) is also pending. The date of conducting the census has not been announced yet. Therefore, the central government should announce its date. AIPF has also said that in this census, columns should be added for the details of representation of all castes in economic, educational and government jobs, so that it can be known how much share each caste has and, on this basis, appropriate steps can be taken to formulate policy for participation in economic, educational and government jobs in the future. Along with this, ‘Sarna Dharma’ of Santhal/Oraon tribals should be included in the list of religions and the category of ‘other religion’ should also be restored as before.

S.R. Darapuri

National President, All India People’s Front.
