BHAGWAN VALMIKI JI’S PARGAT UTSAB

The Valmikians are present worldwide and they will be celebrating Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Pargat Utsab on 7th October 2025. I feel, it is my duty to remind all that because of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Ramayana, Shree Ram Chander Ji’s name is alive today. As long as Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Ramayana remains on this earth so with-it will remain Shree Ram Chander Ji’s name.
The Diwali festival has also originated from Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Ramayana and it is amongst the top festivals of this world.
It would not be wrong to say that Diwali festival is the oldest amongst the celebrated festivals. It dates back to five thousand years.
The Diwali is also known as the festival of light. When Shree Ram Chander Ji, Sita Ji and Laxman Ji returned back after fourteen years exile, the whole Ajodhya was decorated with lit Deepaks. This was done to get rid of sorrow that had remained since their departure. The Deepaks were lit following Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s suggestion. They were lit to make way for Laxmi meaning happiness to penetrate.
Even now, the Deepaks with same thought are being lit. In the new era of electricity, the Deepaks are still in demand because through their lighting, the wishes since many centuries have been fulfilled. The candles are lit in the churches and the Deepaks are lit in the mandirs.
The Deepaks are made of earth, for fuel, ghee made from cow’s milk is used and the cotton wick is inserted for lighting. The Deepaks hold special place in praying so they are present in the homes and in the mandirs. If oil is used to fuel them than they are referred as the chi-raags.
Bhagwan Valmiki is the most influential figure in the Indian belief. Shree Ram Chander Ji, Mata Sita Ji, Laxman Ji, Hanuman Ji plus many more, he has given to this world via his Valmiki Ramayana. All his given deities are being worshipped without any implication but insulting remarks to Bhagwan Valmiki Ji have been addressed since ancient times.
Presently it is being done again. A clip from film Maharishi Valmiki is being shared and the Valmikians are deeply concerned because it is portraying their God Bhagwan Valmiki Ji as a dacoit. Many years ago, a lot of unrest was sparked through film Nartakee and it seems same is going to happen again through this film Maharishi Valmiki.
Following a lot of bloodshed in Jullundur, the film Nartakee was stopped. The Valmikans firmly believe that this story of dacoit has been fabricated under influence of the Manusmirity. The Manusmirity is responsible for caste-based hatred in India. It seems that the hatred is still flowing in the veins of some who are eager to present Bhagwan Valmiki Ji again as a Dacoit.
It would be helpful, if the producer would kindly consider the Film Ramayana and the Ramayana episodes where Bhagwan Valmiki Ji is shown saying that he is the tenth son of Raja Parechetta Ji and declares to Shree Ram Chander Ji that Luv and Kush both are his own children. Thus, this proves that Bhagwan Valmiki was a prince by birth and this fabricated story of dacoit is totally groundless
I was born in year 1946. My late father Shree H. R. Teji Ji was a true devotee of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji. He held high respect for Pandit Bakshi Ram Ji and I do the same. Pandit Bakshi Ram Ji has put endless effort to bring back dignity for the Valmikans. He lived for 90 years out of which he served 40 years in jail sentences. At that time, he was accounted as the leader of the Valmkian community and was close to Baba Sahib Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
In 1920, the story was that seven pandits were going through the forest and a dacoit stopped them to rob. They gave him mantra Mra – Mra that during meditation it turned to Ram – Ram and the dacoit became a Maharishi who now is popular as Maharishi Valmiki.
This story failed to please Pandit Bakshi Ram Ji so he started researching into this and studied 175 scriptures. Through Pandit Bakshi Ram Ji’s research, it came to light that Bhagwan Valmiki was a prince and this dacoit story has been fabricated. The producers of film and episodes of Ramayana have taken on board but here in 2025 we have someone trying to reimpose hatred against Bhagwan Valmiki Ji again.
Within a few weeks, Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Pargat-Divas is going to be celebrated worldwide. So, in good spirit I am closing my article and praying to Bhagwan Valmiki Ji to bless all with health, wealth and happiness.
