Karachi,  Minister of Minority Affairs in Pakistan’s Sindh province Hariram Kishori has called for action against perpetrators of attack on a Hindu temple in Tharparkar districts’s Chachro under that country’s blasphemy law.

Officials of the Minority Affairs Ministry said Kishori told Mirpur Khas police officers that the case should be dealt with under the country’s blasphemy law, Pakistani media reported.

The Minister condemned the attack on Mata Rani Bhatiyani temple and called for investigating the crime. “Chachro is known for peace and communal harmony. Those who want to disturb it are responsible for the attack on the temple. Such incidents are shocking for the Hindu community,” he said.

Meanwhile, a ‘Dawn’ report citing a statement on Monday from the Senior Superintendent of Police office at Tharparkar said four teenagers have been arrested on charges of theft at a temple in Aliabad, near Chachro.

The statement said the boys, aged 12 and 15 years, have confessed to have stolen money from the cash collection box of the temple located at village Premo Ji Vari in Chachro. The statement also referred to desecration of the temple. The police claim to have registered cases against four unidentified persons after receiving a complaint from a villager, the report added.
