Army Northern Command chief visits forward positions on LoC

Srinagar,  Indian Army’s Northern Command chief, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on Tuesday visited forward positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kashmir Valley to review preparedness of the troops.

Defence ministry spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that on the second day of his visit to the Valley, Lt Gen Singh, accompanied by Chinar Corps commander Lt Gen K.J.S. Dhillon, visited the forward areas in the frontier districts of Kupwara and Baramulla and reviewed the security situation along the LoC.

“The Army Commander was briefed by the commanders on ground as regards the counter infiltration grid and operational preparedness of the formations,” the spokesman said, adding that Lt Gen Singh appreciated the measures and Standard Operating Procedures instituted by the units and formations to meet prevailing and future challenges.

“During his interaction with the troops, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh lauded their professionalism, sharp vigil along the LoC and high morale while exhorting them to remain alert and fully prepared for all eventualities,” he said.
