Akal Academy approved the proposal of the late Chaudhry Raminder Singh Gill family to give free education to the children of Dhamot village.
Dhamot (Asian Independent) – Late Chaudhry Raminder Singh Gill, Bibi Rajbans Kaur Gill and their UK family in 2014 donated about 3.75 acres of land situated on Payal-Malerkotla highway to Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib.
The Akal Academy was established on this land after stone laying ceremony lead by Late Baba Iqbal Singh Ji and with the support of the Gill family Akal Academy became fully functional where around 350 children are receiving top quality education along with religious and culture values helping to develop them as nation serving citizens and developing good careers in different fields.
The Gill family represented by Baljit Singh Gill (Former Sarpanch Dhamot), Charan Kanwal Singh Sekhon (MBE) Founder & Chairman SEVA Trust UK, Ranjit Singh Gill (Canada) were present at the agreement signing meeting. As per this formal agreement, the Akal Academy Dhamot will provide free education and free transportation to 10% of total children from Dhamot village.
Whilst signing this agreement on behalf of the family, Charan Kanwal Singh Sekhon (son-in-law of Chaudhary Raminder Singh Gill family) who is a senior district environment officer and serving as a local councillor in Bedford, UK, said that he shared this request by the family and by Dhamot villagers with the current President of Kalgidhar Trust Baba Dr Davinder Singh ji & education coordinator Dr Neelam Kaur Ji and Bhai Gurmeet Singh Ji and arranged a meeting with Baba Davinder Singh Ji at Dhamot Academy in March, 2023 where an outline about this family request was discussed which was put into a formal agreement this week. He thanked Dr Davider Singh ji and the entire management of Akal Academy for accepting the family request to provide this special benefit to Dhamot village.
Whilst signing the agreement, Bhai Gurmeet Singh ji said that Baba Iqbal Singh Ji made a huge effort to uplift rural children of Punjab by providing them the best education, develop them into best citizens by giving them true Sikhi valuses and Chaudhry Raminder Singh Gill family has made a great contribution for this entire region by donating this land situated at prime location close to village Dhamot and it has really good connectivity with entire region.
On this occasion, Headmistress Baljit Kaur said that the Academy is equipped with all modern facilities and she would like to apepal to the entire area to send their children to the academy and all the staff are working very hard for a better future for all children. She thanked Sekhon and Gill families for their continued support.
